John said to Jesus,"Teacher, we saw someone driving out demons in your name,and we tried to prevent him because he does not follow us."Jesus replied, "Do not prevent him.There is no one who performs a mighty deed in my namewho can at the same time speak ill of me.For whoever is not against us is for us."

This is today's reading. I ask if the converse is true. Whoever is not for us is against us. Does this Gospel describe two categories that are fully univesal as well as exclusive. Can one be not for us yet not against us? If not P then not P? True that is a tautology. Or if not P or not not P then Q? Let Q be beside us. Perhaps the logic of the statement does demand one or the other. Can we escape P? Well logic is a human construct and not of God's realm, so I am using a hammer to listen to a heartbeat.

morning with hope

so, my alarm goes off and hope hears it. that means that i better hide or run or something since she just remembered where she left me last night and is going to try to get in. i figure that the battle has been fought well all night and decide to sleep on the floor and let her nap with me. nope. she is ready to go. she comes in as a dashing ball of fur and attacks everything in sight, including all of my fingers and my eyeball at one point. well, i guess seven hours of sleep is pretty decent.

First born

I would like to announce my first born. Her name is Hope Jimbo Howe and she is a 10 week old black kitten (a little white on the throat). While we are having some adjustment issues with the move in (screeching all night, clawing me when I try to eat, eating the houseplants) she is a very sweet little girl and is incredibly friendly.
